07/08/09 The N.G.O. "Romiosini" at the 20th International Symposium of Philosophy in Ancient Olympia

The 20th International Symposium of Philosophy was successfully held from Sunday, August 2nd to Friday, August 7th 2009 in Ancient Olympia, in Pyrgos, on "The Enlightenment in the Greek and European tradition". The organizers, the Olympic Center for Philosophy and Education, in collaboration with the Holy Metropolis of Ilia and Oleni, the Prefecture of Ilia, the municipalities of Pyrgos, Nestor and Ancient Olympia and the Universities of Athens and Cyprus, in addition to the symposium, organized and carried out also the fourth bilingual International Seminar of Greek philosophy and culture on "The Ancient Greek civilization as a source of inspiration of contemporary artistic creation".


Many university professors, Greeks and foreigners attended the Symposium of Philosophy, who addressed important and timely topics, as Ethics and Aesthetics, Social and Political life, Religion and Scientific progress, the Medical diagnosis and treatment, Archaeology and the Environment.


The Deputy Manager of the N.G.O. of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem "Romiosini", Mrs Catherine Diamantopoulou, Theologian - Philologist, PhD, University of Athens, also attended  the Symposium which had interesting discussions with the President of the Olympic Center for Philosophy and Education, Professor Leonidas Bartzelioti and with other University Professors, in scientific matters, but also national, with special reference to the work of N.G.O. "Romiosini" and mission of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem in the modern, constantly evolving world. Also congratulated Professor at the University of California, Mr. C. Anagnostopoulos for the multifaceted action.
