His All Holiness Beatitude the Patriarch of Jerusalem and All Palestine,Theophilos' III Welcoming Letter

On behalf of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, our humility, the Patriarch of Jerusalem, greets the publication of the website of the N.G.O. "Romiosini" with an immense hope and joy.

In these difficult times we live there is a crisis of identity together with a problematic uncertainty for the future affecting every single society on earth. We feel it is the duty of the Orthodox Christians and especially of the Rum-Orthodox (irrespective of the language each one speaks) the "urbi et orbi" declaration of the tremendous power of God and of the "unrevealed treasures of wisdom and spiritual knowledge" that co-exist in the Orthodox Church and the Body of our Lord Jesus Christ. They are "unrevealed", hidden, as if under a "shell cover" and this seems to be due the invisibility on the one hand and the apparent weakness of the Orthodox testimony and conduct on the other. Yet these "unrevealed treasures" constitute the one and only source of what is real in existence and also tangible i.e. hope of recovery, peace, prayer and sanctification, the one and only source of all that is "true, humble, righteous, pure, beloved and justified", all that constitutes "virtue and praise" for the people.

The realization of our forefathers that "Romania (the Old Rum-Orthodox empire, the one wrongly called Byzantine) may have gone but is still flourishing and forthcoming hence" derives from the very experience of the Grace of God, a divine gift which "does not come from this world", this is the simple explanation as to why even the tremendous and miraculously wonderful can be accomplished because: "wherever the Hyper-Nature God is acting, it is there where the Hyper-Nature Phenomena occur". This is how "Romiosini", the created holy Kingdom on earth, became the icon depicting the uncreated Kingdom of heaven. "Romiosini" has always been in close conjunction (συναλληλία)  with the Orthodox Church, via the holy Rum-Orthodox Empire, and, thus, has become the spiritual ladder to heaven turning mortals not only to potential angels on earth, but also, to potential mortals in heaven. Thus, "Romiosini" reflects the cultural revelation of the sanctifying action of the Church on earth. "Romiosini" identifies, in reality, with modern Greeks and with all other Rum-Orthodox peoples of the Old Holy Empire despite the fact that due to ethnic misfortunes and the development of the cursed local nationalism some may have lost the Holy Ecumenical vision of the Church of Christ together with the power of use of the Greek word (logos) and of the Greek way of thinking (νους). According to the renowned Russian theologian F. George Florovsky "Hellenism has become an eternally integral part within the body of the Church., it has been incorporated with its flesh, it has become the eternal vision of the Christian faith...By that I mean the Christian antiquity, the Greek character of the Christian dogma, of the Christian worship, of the Christian icons...No, Hellenism does not constitute just a single passing phase in the Church history, a single stage in the long course of the Church... There is one and only way for our theology to have a catholic meaning i.e. to be catholic, and, that is, to be Greek."

We are certain that the projection of "Romiosini" and its multi-facetted achievements will contribute to the identification (diagnosis), control and cure of a variety of social wounds following the unique example of the then Rum-Orthodox state establishment, the most charitable, philanthropic and holy of all civil societies ever. In such a union incorporating the human society with our Lord Jesus Christ we can also achieve the Orthodox Ecumenism in the form of a Mystery union in Christ according to the Holy Fathers. The late F. John Romanides, Professor of Theology at the University of Thessaloniki has written that "the real Ecumenism and the unification of all the divided Christian Faiths with Orthodoxy could only be materialized, if based on the teaching of the ecumenical Fathers", i.e. the Three Hierarchs who as receptors of the Holy Spirit and via the deification achieved can acknowledge and preserve unadulterated the revealed soteriological Truth.

The Patriarchate of Jerusalem constitutes the only indigenous Church of the God-trodden Holy Land, the Fore-Mother of All Churches, the Shepherd of the faithful Christ-loving "Rum-Orthodox" flock of the Holy Land and the undisputed schematic Guardian of Romiosini. The Holy Land is the place wherefrom "Romiosini" somehow started, it is the point where the revealed Evangelical Truth of the Holy Fathers met with the Greek mind (νους) followed by the spreading of the Gospel via the Roman Monarchy., a meeting that was later accomplished and triumphed in the era and area of Constantinople, the so-called New Rome.

Ending we would like to bless and thank all our numerous named and unnamed friends for their invaluable contribution to "Romiosini", the Non Government Organization of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Also we would like to wish every success to crown all their noble endeavours for the Glory of God, for the praise of our Faith, for the praise of our Rum-Orthodox Ethnos.
