The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem besides being the oldest Christian Church institution in the World, maintains today a total of some 20 schools of all grades in Israel, the Palestinian Territories and Jordan with 8000 students, both Christian and Moslem.
The Patriarchate offers now 800 jobs to its teachers and other employees working in its schools. Together with the schools of the Roman Catholic and Protestant Churches in the Holy Land this is the most important contribution to the local society on behalf of the Patriarchate.
Our Christian Schools in the Holy Land constitute the best witness of Christianity’s 2000 years old heritage, calling for peace, tolerance and peaceful co-existence of Christians and peoples of the area.
The schools are run by a committee called the “Educational Committee of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate Schools in the Holly Land” and presently represented by Archimandrite Innocentios and assisted by Mr. Edward Smirat and Miss Amal Bahwam in Jerusalem respectively and the team of experts in education.
